For the record, regarding the C7 Corvette...

When I posted last Friday about a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! for the C7 that would accommodate round taillights, there were a few posters who thought that the taillight vents on the actual C7 were fake. I'd like to clarify that here.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

The taillight vents are real and, along with the rear diffuser, let out the air taken in by the fender vents for cooling the transmission and diff. Whether the fender vents on a C7 are real or not depends on that C7's transmission and if it has the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

While I don't want to sound like I'm soaking up all the hype that GM's made over the car, it looks to me as though most every feature of the car's exterior and interior is designed the way it is for a reason. I don't think it seems unreasonable, at first glance, to assume that the vents have a purpose and aren't faux plastic bits to make it look aggressive or flashy (see: every new beigemobile).

I'm digging the car, so I guess I'm a hype soaker too. As for the taillights, I think they look fine. There is no law saying that Corvette taillights can never change, and my early 2nd gen Camaro has round lights so no matter what taillights the new 'Vette has they would be "Camaro taillights".

I'm kinda surprised that people thought they were fake. After all the hype about the C7's airflow management, I'd have guessed that the average Jalop would know them to be real.

From the official site , scroll down to the third large pic for some nifty animations:

I like the C7's design myself and am fine with it changing.

It might have to do with how new cars are trending towards better styling, higher feature content and good handling, but I don't find myself feeling skeptic about whatever changes happen; I generally trust that cars like the C7 and S550 Mustang will be done right, even if my own opinions about the end results may end up being somewhat negative.

I guess I'm just trying to say that I'm optimistic.

I was one of those morons! I never saw the airflow hype. I admit I thought they were there to make the car look more aggressive.

I'm more cautiously optimistic about the Mustang , but I'm still optimistic . I guess I'm afraid that they'll take the Mustang in the direction that 22 year-olds seem to think it should go i.e. small with a small engine. That's not a Mustang, that's a Focus or Fiesta.

I knew they were real vents and their purpose, but never seen those animations.

Absolutely mesmerizing...

thanks for the share.

It'll have a 2.3T EcoBoost and the 5.0; there are already test mules for the next hi-po Mustang out and about .

It'll shrink a bit and lose some weight, I'm sure, but I don't think it'll be reduced to a RWD Fiesta. Though I certainly wouldn't mind seeing a RWD Ford other than the Mustang in that size class.

According to my careful photoshop engineering of airflow, the tail-lamps contribute to the subliminal airflow.

Those engines are what I've read and they make sense, but I'll hold my breath until they are officially announced. A small RWD car to serve as an FR-S fighter would be a good thing for those wanting a smaller car, but I don't know that there would be a business case for it. Even Toyota had to split the cost with somebody else and they have more resources than Ford. I'll definitely take a look at a new 5.0 to see if it can replace the 2005 GT that I used to have.

I know that there isn't much of a business case for a Toyobaru fighter; I'm just saying that one would be nice.
